Conwy Borough Swifts came from behind away to CPD Cefni as they secured their first win of pre-season despite being down to ten men for the majority of the second half.

Looking for a response to a mid-week defeat to Penrhyn Bay where Conwy had hit the woodwork on three occasions, the side, led by Simon Allen and Steve Montgomery, made the journey to Llangefni where they met a spirited Cefni side in the third game of their busy pre-season schedule.

With little under 40 minutes gone, the visitors took the lead as a smart assist from Owen Boden set up Issac Carey for the opener.

Having taken a narrow lead into the break, Conwy were victims of their own downfall early into the second-half as a red card shown for a foul outside the box gifted Cefni a way back into the game as they converted the resulting free-kick.

Looking to take advantage of their extra man, the hosts began to pressure the Tangerines, before eventually crafting an opportunity to take the lead.

Undeterred by the task at hand, Conwy hit back with just over ten minutes to go as Bowden added to his earlier assist, this time hitting the back of the net himself.

With a physical encounter looking to headed for a draw, Conwy showed fantastic character to snatch victory at the death as Cai Adams secured a late winner to give the visitors their first victory of pre-season ahead of next week’s trip to face Crewe FC.
