Following the off-season merger of Conwy Borough FC and Llandudno Swifts, Conwy Borough Swifts begun the start of their new era by showing great promise in their first pre-season outing.

As the side prepare for a season in the fourth tier where they’ll be looking for promotion, they welcomed higher league opponents, Llanrwst United to Y Morfa in what proved to be a promising showing for the Tangerines.

Holding the Roosters level until the final ten minutes, a Conwy squad heavily rotated to provide all players valuable game time fell to a 2-0 defeat.

However, manager Simon Allen has taken positives from the run out: “We’ve been back in pre-season for a couple of weeks now and the squad have blended well with the addition of a few new players. Steve Montgomery and I are enjoying the challenge of taking this club forward as a duo”

“This weekend was simply about getting some minutes into all of the lads and getting ourselves back into the rhythm of competitive action.

“We’ve had a bit of a re-set over the off-season, not just the first-team, but the club as a whole, and I think that there’s a positive feeling going into this season that we can begin the journey to get this club back to where we belong.”
