A bust weekend saw mixed fortunes for Conwy Borough as victories for several of our youth and development teams were met with defeats for the Vets and First Team.

Youth

The young tangerines sides came head-to-head at Aberconwy School on Saturday in the Colwyn & Aberconwy U13 League with Conwy Borough taking a 9-1 victory over Conwy Borough Athletic, placing the former third in the table with two wins from two so far this season.

Our under 15’s side also took maximum points as a Grady Bond hat trick played part in a 7-0 victory over Llandudno Junction in the Colwyn & Aberconwy U15 league clash.

Development

Conwy Borough Swifts Development team remained hot on the heels of Development League leaders Kinmel Bay with an impressive 3-2 victory over Prestatyn Sports at Y Morfa.

An early goal from Josh Lee was cancelled out by the visitors before Jacob Fraser struck either side of the break to give Conwy a commanding lead.

The visitors had the last say courtesy of a strike from Dylan Taylor deep into added time.

However, it was the Tangerines who came away with a 3-2 victory to remain third.

Vets

Despite taking an early lead through a Jamie Webster goal with ten minutes gone, the Conwy Borough Vets side fell to a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Holywell Town in the North East Wales Veterans Division 2.

First-Team

It was a dramatic afternoon on the road for Conwy Borough Swifts’ first-team, falling to a stoppage time defeat at Bro Cernyw.

The home side took the lead on 13 minutes as Gethin Vaughan opened what looked to be a low scoring affair.

However, the game came to life in its final moments as James Lansdowne looked to have secured a point, slotting away a penalty four minutes into added time, only for the home side to re-take the lead in the final seconds through Rhidian Williams.

A second yellow shown to Liam Daly saw the hosts then reduced to ten men, but it proved too late for Conwy to make any use of the additional man with the Tangerines now turning their attention to cup action away at Rhos United this weekend.
